Rabbi Praver is known as the Spiritual Leader of Congregation Adath Israel of Newtown, Connecticut - "the Newtown Rabbi." He became nationally recognized to millions when he ascended the stage on December 16, 2012 in the presence of President Barack Obama to intone the Hebrew memorial prayer, God Full of Compassion, in response to the Sandy Hook, Newtown Gun Massacre.  Rabbi Praver, who also serves as the State of Connecticut Prison Chaplain, has since founded the national organization Global Coalition for Peace and Civility to substantially address violence in the United States. 


Rabbi Praver lectures nationally on the issue of spirituality and religious perspectives on gun violence, and is regarded as an expert in the field. He is invited often for lectures and public speaking at universities, houses of worship, congressional forums and to the media on the subject.
